FREEDOM
by Brittany Bierbach

Freedom I counted on you as one of my rights
Freedom why did you let me down?
I can’t stand my own mind
Freedom why when I speak out do I get shunned
My opinion matters, doesn’t it?
Freedom when will you be true to yourself and true to
me as well
I need to know I can trust you when I bear arms
Freedom where are you?
Will you have my back when I speak my mind about
abortion, or gay rights?
Or will I fall to the ground without you there
Freedom please stick up for me, it is the right thing
to do
Freedom this is your job, and your boss might get
angry
Please follow your word and feel sentimental.
Don’t get upset now, there must be some other way to
settle this argument.

Freedom lets work together to make the world a better
place
The two of us can try, cant we?
I refuse to give up my obsession.
Freedom I have a problem and it is when I speak, I am
told not to say certain things
Why is this Freedom?
It was you who told me to say what I feel
Freedom I say it in a classy, polite way, but still I
get scolded.
Freedom is war the answer for you?
Or was it America who put you up to it
Use your own advice and stand up for yourself
Freedom when the crowd is roaring, they are roaring
for you

There must be a way to keep you around
My mom said she loves you, and I must admit I do too.
Freedom I feel as though you are slowly slipping away.
Stop.
We all need you around; you are the best thing that
has happened to us.
Freedom please promise me you will stay forever.
Keep me safe when I feel the need to speak.
My mind is made up there is going to be trouble
I am trying to warn you Freedom, stay for the sake of
your friends.
I will ask America to leave you the way you are
Nobody is perfect, and you are fine just the way you
are
Freedom I appreciate what you have done for America
Now all we have to do is show America how important
you really are.
