LADIES MESSAGE May/June  2008

The Ladies Auxiliary would like to thank all who helped with our recent endeavors. Our annual yard, bake and hoagie sale took place on April 26th . The donations of goodies to sell and the purchases made helps the Ladies support our programs like helping the active troops and the Veterans in our area as well as the community. We
appreciate all the help we received from our SAL squadron as well as the Legionaries to make the sale a success.
There are many Ladies involved in our Unit. In the coming issues we want to recognize them and their efforts. Here are a few examples of what is happening for Spring time.
A big part of our success at our bake sale goes to Doris Ihlenfeld who directs the volunteer workers and the donations. We would not be quite as organized without her help.
Sue Quinn, our Vice President, has been very busy with our community efforts. She is a major part in organizing many endeavors such as Flagging Chapel Ave with Sr. Vice Commander Ernie Brosh and Joe Zanghi. As everyone should know she is also our webmaster who helps keep us
informed between the Scoop and our website. Sue has also undertaken the Veterans History Project in her spare time which is a great way for our Veterans to remember as well as be
remembered in the future. Thank you for all your help. Please get in touch with her if you are interested in participating in the project.
June Fitzgerald is our Girls State person who is feverishly working to get our candidates in place for the June event, not an easy task, but one she undertakes every year. In our next Scoop we should have a report on the event. It is very exciting to see our young people and their enthusiasm to participate in the program.
For God and country,
Carol Doyle—President

LADIES MESSAGE March/April 2008

As winter winds down we are starting to look forward to a warm and sunny spring. Easter is right around the corner with Beep Beep the Clown and hopefully the Easter Bunny stopping at our post on March 22nd for our Annual Egg Hunt.
The Ladies will hold a few hoagie sales throughout the spring and summer months. Please remember to order in advance for these sales, no lettuce, no onions, no problem, we can delete any ingredient you want to make it your way. The funds we make on these sales will be used for our current troops as well as our Veterans in the coming months. We will also be making hoagies for our Annual Yard, Bake and Hoagie Sale at the end of April. Watch for signs as this is always a great day to come out and find some great bargains and delicious goodies.
As always May is a whirlwind of activities between Locustwood flagging and services, Memorial Day, Installation of officers for the coming year, and our new tradition of helping Joe Zanghi with the flagging of Chapel Avenue.
Also don't forget to watch for signs regarding the Convention in Wildwood. This is a great way to learn more about our organization and have a fun time with fellow members at the shore. If you can make the time to attend if only for a day to come see all the posts in the old fashioned parade on Saturday it will bring back memories of your youth with floats, marching bands and all the flag waving. We hope to see you there.

LADIES MESSAGE Jan/Feb 2008

The ladies have been busy this holiday season as per usual. Our Thanksgiving food drive was a great success. We were able to provide 5 households with goodies from soup to nuts and we will be able to duplicate this feat for Christmas . Thank you to everyone who pitched in to make some families very happy and well fed. A few even included gifts for the children in the house.
The children's holiday party was a noisy success. Candy and balloons were the theme of the day. The kids greeted Beep-Beep with open arms and cheers and then of course Santa always get a loud cheer from the whole room old and young alike. A special thank you to Al and Mary Walker and Stuart Mitchell who provided the candy for the party. A special thank you to Bob the engineer who's wonderful display of trains added a special touch going around the Christmas tree.
I would like to thank everyone who helped make the day a wonderful success as this was my first attendance at a post kids party and I had a great time.
The adult party in the evening was also a great time although sparsely attended. Mike the DJ was great playing songs to get everyone dancing. And Ernie Linden did a stellar job with the food. Congratulations to Patty Howorth who won the basket of cheer.
Look to the ladies doing things in the coming months as we hope to stir the pot so to speak with hoagie sales, maybe a raffle basket or two so we can continue our support of the troops and veterans overseas.
With hopes of a happy and healthy coming year for all our members and friends.
For God and country,
Carol Doyle—Ladies President

LADIES MESSAGE November/December 2007

This is the time of year when the Ladies Auxiliary get real busy. Not only are we preparing our own homes for the holidays but our thoughts are with our  active military as well as our veterans and the community. We will be reaching out to our fellow post members in the coming weeks to help us provide some holiday comforts to those in need. We will have a box for canned goods for the traditional food baskets, a box for Toys for Tots, and will be assembling shoeboxes for the veterans in Vineland.

Any donations of items  will be put to good use throughout the communities we serve. If you know of a member who could use a little assistance please let us know we would like to help our own families and we can be very discreet.

Please remember to say " Thank You" to our veterans on November 11th without their service we would not be a part of the Legion family we enjoy so much. If you are able to please  participate in any Veterans Day ceremonies as this is the best way to show your appreciation.

Keep December 15th open for our traditional kids party complete with Beep-Beep and Santa always a fun time for the kids and their escorts. All children of members and  their families are welcome.

If you get a chance stop in the post if you haven't been there for awhile, you will be amazed at the improvements that have been made inside and out. You will also get a chance to meet some of the new members and reminisce with old friends.

  For God and country,

  Carol Doyle

September/October 2007

The Ladies Auxiliary is looking forward to a very exciting year in 2007-2008. We would like to welcome all of our new members as we are always open to fresh ideas and friendly faces.

As we go into the fall there are some events to look forward to in the coming year, such as the Family Day, the annual Halloween party, the log splitting day, and of course the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays will be upon us soon.

The Ladies will also be assembling goodies and gifts for our active military members, the Vineland Home and the Veteran's Haven for the holidays. Last year we were able to help many of our active military members and Veterans have a happier holiday due to our Post's generosity.

Of course the Ladies are especially looking forward to working with our Legion family on all Post endeavors. We appreciate everyone's support to make our entire Post thrive in the community and the organization.

For God and country, Carol Doyle

LADIES MESSAGE June/July 2007

The Ladies Auxiliary would like to thank all who supported our Spring yard sale. It was a huge success thanks to all the SAL’s who helped set up and break down , without you we couldn't have done it. Also a big thanks to Doris Ilhenfeld who organized the sale.
A big round of applause goes out to Katie Rooney for her county Oratorical win. Katie will also be going to Girls State this year, maybe we'll have the next Governor from our post!
Congratulations to our new post officers especially Charles as the post Commander. A big step for our post in the county, we now have the county Commander-Tom Adams, Vice-Reynold "Chin" Johnson and the county SAL Vice-Brian Fitzgerald. The Ladies look forward to working with all of you in the coming year.
We are putting behind us a sad year with the loss of some special people. Tom and Darlene Goldy, Bob Matson, Francine Cavalli-Fitzgerald, Tom Viguers, and Tom Fritsche all of whom are surely missed. ..Hopefully this next year is a healthy and happy one for our post.
Looking forward to a great convention in Wildwood, hope to see you there.

LADIES MESSAGE April/May 2007

The Ladies are trying to keep warm this winter by keeping very busy. With the help of some money from the pull tab account (Thanks to all who contribute by playing) we are in the process of sending our personalized goodie bags overseas once again.
These bags will contain reminders of home such as Campbell's soup, cookies, crackers, hand held electronic games, DVDs and candy. We are also going to be able to send some more sports equipment to keep the guys and gals occupied in their time off.
We are currently in the planning stages for our annual Spring yard/bake sale and this year. We will also feature a hoagie sale so watch for more details.
Don't forget our annual Easter egg hunt on April 7th which is open to all children of the post, kids, grand kids, nieces, nephews, etc. Please come and see Beep Beep the clown. We are hoping the Easter Bunny will stop in for a visit during his busiest season.
We would like to send out get well wishes to all the members who are under the weather or recuperating from various surgeries.
I would also like to say a special thank you to our acting commander Charles Macukewicz for the stellar job he is doing for our post and his support of the ladies endeavors.

For God and country,
Carol Doyle

Ladies President Message - Commanders Memorial Issue December 2006

With the holidays upon us we should be happy and celebrating with family and friends.

Unfortunately, the Post has suffered another huge loss during the Thanksgiving holiday when Mr. Goldy lost the ultimate battle.

Everybody knows Tom fought many battles during his life but he always fought for his family, friends and his country and Post 372, which is why he will be surely missed by many people.

Our Post family has had too much tragedy this year with losing so many wonderful people and we have many fighting a valiant battle still today.

Our active troops also need our prayers and support, hopefully all will come home soon with their job done. When sitting down with your family this year please keep all our Post members in mind as well as our active duty members and of course the veterans.

Please say a special prayer for Bob Dickinson who has lost his family and home when he lost both Darlene and Tom this year. I pray he will find another family who will care for him as much as the Goldy’s did but that just doesn’t seem realistic to find another family as special as the Goldy’s were.

The Ladies would like to thank all who helped with our holiday food baskets. As all our members know there has been a lot of sorrow in our post this year and any way we can help the members and our community is truly appreciated.

We plan to continue to help our Veterans thru the holidays by our annual trek to Vineland with shoeboxes in time for Christmas. In February we plan to send goodie bags to the active duty troops. Any contributions are gladly accepted for either endeavor.

Again thank you for all the support and may next year be a Happy and healthy one.

For God and Country,
Carol Doyle
Ladies Auxiliary President

LADIES MESSAGE November/December 2006

With the Holiday season quickly approaching the Ladies are getting very busy. By the time you read this we will have been on our first group visit to the Veterans Haven Home.

Our Ladies are joining together with the American Legion Riders to give an early holiday gift to the residents. Through a generous gesture from the E Board we were able to get a check from the “Pull Tab” fund to supply a gift card to each resident. This will enable them to purchase something of their choice at Walmart in time for the holidays. We will also be supplying a nice luncheon for all 54 residents. We hope to have a fun day while trying to show our support to some of our most recent veterans.

As most are aware our post has had a rough year through all branches of the Legion Family with sickness, fire and losing some very special members. This holiday season while gathering canned goods for the Holiday Baskets if you know of any person who could use a little help please let us know.

We can be very discreet and would like to give our support at home first. A box will be in the canteen for any donation.

The Ladies will also be making shoeboxes for our Veterans in Vineland again this year. Any donations will be gladly accepted.

Have a safe season and we hope to see you at the post Holiday party on December 16th.

For God and Country,
Carol Doyle
Ladies President

LADIES MESSAGE July/August 2006

I would like to thank all who have supported the auxiliary during this past year. With everyone's help we were able to send packages to our active military overseas. We were also successful in helping our local homeless children and of course our new endeavor Veterans Haven. We hope to exceed this year in our endeavors and look forward to working with our American Legion family to expand our horizons.

Please remember our Legion family in your thoughts over the coming year and feel free to make any suggestions.

 For God and Country.

Carol Doyle

Ladies MESSAGE March/April 2006

Dear Members,

I’d like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of the upcoming events;

On Saturday, March 18th from 7pm – 12 midnight we’ll be holding the annual St. Patricks Day Party. Tickets are available in the Cantina. The cost is $20 per person or $35 per couple. This includes and open bar, classic Irish Buffet and a Disc Jockey. This event is hosted by the S.A.L’s and the Ladies Auxiliary so please come out and support the Post and have a great time!

Our annual Easter Egg Hunt will be on Saturday April 15th from 11am – 1pm. Beep Beep the clown will be there as well as the Bunny Rabbit and this year a surprise quest “Mr Bumble Bee” who was donated by the Old Country Buffet in Cherry Hill. So bring the children for a great day of fun and surprises. Lunch will be served after the hunt, followed by the entertainment.

Also coming in April will be the Auxiliary's Yard and Bake Sale. Time and date is April 29th from 8am to 2pm. Tables are $15. and space is $10. This event will take place rain or shine. This day has always been a big success so come and shop and have fun at the same time. Hot dogs, sodas, and soft pretzels will also be sold. So look for poster in the Cantina advertising the sale. Tables and space availability call Eileen at 665-3889.

In closing, Id like to acknowledge that the Ladies Auxiliary had the wonderful opportunity of helping a family in their hour of need from the Pennsauken area. Not only did the Auxiliary help them financially with a donation, but also materially with clothing and food.

In response, the Auxiliary has received beautiful and thoughtful letters of thanks from the Egan family. We also received a letter from Post #68 of Merchantville citing the Auxiliary for their generosity, thoughtfulness and the emotional well-being of the family. If you would like to be of any assistance please contact Dot Wahl or Carol Doyle, who were instrumental in making all this happen.

Until next time,
Eileen F. Morrissey
President Ladies Auxiliary Unit 372
