POST #372 ROTC STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP ESTABLISHED
AT CHERRY HILL WEST
Post #372 proudly announces the establishment of funding for “The Cherry
Hill American Legion Post #372 ROTC Scholarship Fund,” an initiative
created by the members of the organization’s Executive Board.
The fund will provide for two $2,500.00 scholarships to the pair of Senior
High ROTC students with highest all-around grades. There are no
restrictions to the students’ choice of colleges selected.
The Fund was conceived and developed by Post Vice Commander Charles
Macukewicz , a retired insurance company executive and Air Force veteran,
who fostered the idea and its development along with fellow members of the
Post Board.
Macukewicz said he was confident the Post ROTC Scholarship will be awarded
annually.
The unanimous action by the leadership of Post #372 was met with surprise
and welcoming delight by School Board officials at Cherry Hill School
West, which is the region’s only ROTC student academic base.
“We’re overwhelmed,” said School Board Member
Thomas Redmond, noting that West had never received such an ROTC grant
from any community organization. His views were echoed by Dr. David C.
Campbell, Superintendent of the Cherry Hill School System, who praised the
Post and its members for their caring and civic involvement.
