It is with heavy hearts we report the passing of American Legion Post 372 veteran Kenneth Smith (son and daugher-in-law of members Randy and Dawn Smith).

enneth Charles Smith, 86, second son of John Frederick Smith and Elva Eldridge Smith passed on October 3, 2025. Deceased siblings, John Junior, Larry, Richard (Linda) and Robert. Survived by sister Nancy Smith Siegel (Gary). Graduated Merchantville High School class of 1956. Joined the Air Force, a source of pride his entire life. Married 1961 to Patricia Chilcott the love of his life, having three children, Patti Ann Smith Caldwell, Kenneth Nevin Smith, predeceased (Carole) and Randy Paul Smith (Dawn). 10 grandchildren Chelsea (predeceased) Brad, Brianna, and Carli Caldwell; Kenneth Ryan (Lauren), Colin, Keri (Nick), and Cole Smith; Melissa (AJ) Parisi and Danielle Smith. 7 great grandchildren, Ryan, Xander, Tiernan and Nevin Smith, Miller McFerren, and Trevor and Ryder Parisi.
An exceptional gentleman with hobbies and interests that kept him busy; fishing and boating at his beloved shore home, photography, woodworking, and traveling near and far. Past president of Merchantville-Pennsauken Jaycees, member Maple Shade -Moorestown Masonic Lodge and still friends with MHS class of '56 "boys" that meet once a month for breakfast. He loved his beer, a good conversation and hosted many fun parties at his homes, loved to laugh, have a good conversation, listened well and encouraged us to be gentle and kinder to one another.
A Boy Scout himself he was proud to see both sons achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. He has many nieces and nephews, and they all had a special place in his heart. We celebrate his life and are thankful for the memories made, and the love he had for each of us.
