It is with heavy hearts we report the passing of American Legion Post 372 member and WWII Veteran, William "Pop" Schumacher. He will be dearly missed, and our hearts go out to his family, several of whom are members of Post 372. Although we have lost a true hero, his legacy will live on. Rest in peace "Pop". See funeral details below;
William “Pop” Schumacher, Sr., age 98 years of Delair, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on November 7, 2025.
Beloved husband of the late Rebecca M. (nee Goldy). Devoted father of William G. Schumacher, Jr. (Carol), Linda Lee Buchman (Robert), Maryann M. Slattery (the late Kevin), Patricia “Trish” DeSalvo (Fran), Jeanne M. Steidler (John), and the late Robert Schumacher. Loving grandfather of 12, great grandfather of 32 and great, great grandfather of 6. Dear brother of Frederick “Bud” Schumacher and the late Carole Vitagliano and Jack Thomas.
Prior to retirement, William was employed with Pennsauken Township for over 20 years. He was a United States Navy and Marine Corps veteran serving in World War II in Okinawa. William was a life member of the American Legion Post 372 in Cherry Hill, a life member of the Delaview Firehouse in Delair and a member of the VFW Post 7334 in Somerdale. He was also an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan and will be missed by all who knew him.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation and Funeral on Thursday, November 13, 2025, from 9-10:30 AM at the Falco/Caruso & Pennsauken Funeral Home, 6600 N. Browing Road, where a Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Bethel Memorial Park in Pennsauken. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Spectracare Foundation 777 Blackwood Clementon Road Lindenwold, NJ 08021.
