HISTORY of the NJ American Legion Statewide MEMORIAL SERVICE, Parade and Social
This long-standing tradition, dating back to the 1930s, is a time-honored event that brings together Legionnaires and their families from all across New Jersey.
Locustwood Memorial Park: A Sacred Space for Veterans
Back in the 1930’s, Locustwood Memorial Park generously donated a graves/section to the NJ American Legion, specifically for Legionnaires and their families. This sacred space is located near the Legion memorial and flagstaff, making it the only official American Legion burial ground in the state of New Jersey.
Honoring Our Departed Comrades
Every year, NJ American Legion Posts throughout the state come together to hold a Memorial Service that honors all our fallen Legionnaires. This service takes place on the Sunday after Memorial Day and is not just a post or county observance, but the official Memorial Day service of the Department of New Jersey.
This is a great opportunity to meet and mingle with members and officers from all our NJ American Legions. Share news, events, and stories with your fellow comrades as we come together to honor and remember those who have served our country with bravery and dedication.
